Virginia's Insurance Marketplace
Open Enrollment is almost upon us. Your clients will be using the new state-based exchange, Virginia’s Insurance Marketplace, to shop for Individual & Family Plans during Open Enrollment this year, regardless of carrier.
What do I need to know?
Virginia’s Insurance Marketplace will replace the Federal Marketplace (healthcare.gov) for Virginia residents starting this year.
What do I need to do?
Brokers need to complete required certification with Virginia’s Insurance Marketplace by October 10, 2023 to sell plans on November 1, 2023.
- Agent, navigator, and assister training will be hosted by the Virginia State Corporation Commission (SCC) on the Meridian Learning Management System (LMS).
- Users can log into their accounts 24/7 and complete training at their own pace.
- Training will be free of charge.
- Agents with active PY23 certifications will be able to take a limited renewal curriculum.
- Agents must complete training and pass the exam with 80% or better for certification.
- Virginia’s Insurance Marketplace cannot guarantee certification by November 1 for agents not able to meet the October 10 training completion deadline.
- If you have clients on the Federal Marketplace (healthcare.gov) enrolled in 2023 plans, your client list will automatically be transferred to Virginia’s Insurance Marketplace if the required training and certification are completed by the October 10 deadline. Agents who complete the training after the deadline will need to add their client list manually.
