CMS Enterprise Portal Password Policy Change
Beginning on April 25, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Enterprise Portal will be updating its current password policy. The updates consist of the following changes:
- Must be at least 15 characters long
- Cannot be longer than 60 characters
- Must contain 1 uppercase letter
- Must contain 1 lowercase letter
- Must contain 1 number
- Special characters are optional
- The following special characters are acceptable: " ! # $ % & ’ ( ) * + , - . / \ : ; < = > ? @ [ ] ^ _ ` { | } ~
- Cannot contain parts of the User ID
- Cannot contain the user’s First or Last Name
- Can only be changed by the user once per 24 hours
- Must be different from the last 6 passwords used
Note: You will be required to log in every 60 days for your account password to remain active, instead of the previous requirement to log in every 180 days. After 60 days of inactivity, users will have to reset their passwords to regain access to their account.

As a reminder, the CMS Enterprise Portal is a single sign-on platform that provides access to numerous CMS applications, including the Marketplace Learning Management System (MLMS).
