Johns Hopkins Health Plans Updates Address Verification Process for Baltimore
Johns Hopkins Health Plans is implementing a standardized process for agents in the Baltimore area to verify their prospective members' county of residence. Beginning on May 24, 2024, agents with Johns Hopkins Health Plans must use UnitedStatesZipCodes.org to verify whether their potential clients reside in Baltimore County or Anne Arundel County.
This rule change comes after it was revealed that residents of Baltimore City, Baltimore County, and Anne Arundel County share several zip codes. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services has requested carriers be more diligent about reviewing the policyholder's area of residence to confirm their eligibility for the requested plan and ensure they reside within the plan's service area.
Agents who need to verify their client's county of residence must type the full address into the aforementioned website, note the section that states "County Verification complete," and save.
Agents with questions about this process can contact the Johns Hopkins Health Plans Sales Operations Team at
