Permitted Trade Practices for Certain Products and Services in NC
North Carolina has determined that an insurance producer or company may offer or provide products or services to a client or potential client provided the product or service is offered in connection with the marketing, purchase, or retention of an insurance contract and do not exceed an aggregate retail value of $250 per person per year.
Additionally, the products or services are offered without fee or at a reduced fee must be related to the servicing of an insurance contract or are offered to provide risk control for the benefit of an insured.
The products or services offered cannot be contingent upon the purchase of insurance, must be offered on the same terms to all potential customers and the requirements of the products or services are conspicuously disclosed to the recipient in writing.
